Mark Thompson to Stay as CNN Chief Executive After Paramount Sale

Mark Thompson will remain chair and chief executive of CNN after Paramount Skydance takes control of parent company Warner Bros Discovery, he told staff Monday. The deal is expected to close Tuesday. Thompson said Paramount Skydance leadership supports independent news and CNN's digital strategy, easing employee fears of an overhaul or Bari Weiss replacing him.
