Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan agreed at an emergency meeting in Riyadh to activate collective defence measures under the Mecca Alliance and rapidly deploy agreed military forces and capabilities to the kingdom. The decision responds to Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, including threats to holy sites. The pact, signed in August, had not previously been triggered.
