Former Chief Justice B.R. Gavai criticized Supreme Court judge Ujjal Bhuyan for commenting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls while the matter is pending before the apex court. Gavai called it judicial impropriety, stressing that sitting or retired judges must not speak on sub judice issues. Retired Delhi High Court judges S.N. Dhingra and R.S. Sodhi also questioned Bhuyan's remarks.
