Kosovo Elects Justina Shiroka Pula President at Deadline

Kosovo's parliament elected Justina Shiroka Pula as president early Wednesday, narrowly meeting a constitutional deadline and averting snap elections. The 73-year-old academic and former minister won 81 votes, one above the required two-thirds threshold, after the ruling LVV and opposition PDK struck a compromise. Lawmakers also agreed to amend the legal framework governing the Hague-based Kosovo Specialist Chambers.
