German court orders detention of ex-spy chief Hanning

A German court has ordered former BND chief August Hanning, 80, held in pre-trial detention after his arrest on suspicion of treason and espionage for a foreign intelligence service. Prosecutors accuse Hanning, who led the BND from 1998 to 2005, of obtaining secret documents and advising foreign spies. His lawyer denies wrongdoing.
