RBI Tightens Liquidity, Raises Daily CRR Maintenance to 99%

The RBI raised the minimum daily CRR maintenance requirement from 90% to 99%, effective the fortnight beginning October 16, 2026, after lifting the repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.50%. It also announced a ₹25,000 crore bond sale on October 13 to absorb surplus liquidity and align the weighted average call rate with the policy rate.
