US developers are turning rice husks, a stubborn agricultural waste, into fire-resistant and moisture-absorbing construction panels. Modern Mill, founded in 2018, has diverted over nine million kg of husks from landfill, with hundreds of new homes now using the material. Rice husk ash could also replace cement, which accounts for 8% of global carbon emissions.
