On Oct. 9, 1992, a 12.37-kilogram meteorite landed in Peekskill, New York, after a fireball streaked across the skies from Kentucky to New York. The meteorite crashed through the trunk of 18-year-old Michelle Knapp's parked Chevrolet Malibu. Knapp, who had just bought the car for $300, later sold the damaged vehicle for $10,000.
