Wayanad temperatures rise sharply, alarming ecologists

Wayanad recorded an average temperature of 29.2°C from September 1-17, up from 27.3°C last year, with maximums above 30°C for seven days. The Hume Centre warns the warming threatens forests, water tables, coffee cultivation and public health, following the 2024 Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslide disaster.
