Cristiano Ronaldo has announced his retirement from international football, ending his career with Portugal. The announcement comes just over a month after he left Portugal's national camp midway through the UEFA Nations League following a falling-out with coach Jorge Jesus over playing time. Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d'Or winner, has scored 981 career goals and is closing in on the 1,000-goal milestone.
