US Weighs Ending 60-Day Grace Period for H-1B Workers

The US is reviewing a proposal to eliminate the 60-day grace period for certain foreign workers, including H-1B visa holders, after job loss. The rule, under review by the White House OMB, would require affected workers and dependants to leave the country almost immediately. Indian nationals, who received 71% of approved H-1B petitions in FY2024, would be significantly impacted.
