India began their FIH Men's Hockey World Cup 2026 campaign with a 3-1 win over Wales in their opening Pool D match at Wagener Stadium on Saturday. Captain Harmanpreet Singh scored twice, with Sanjay also on target, as India took control early. Wales pulled one back in the 55th minute, but India's defence held firm to secure all three points and top Pool D.
