The Trump administration has deported more than 25,000 migrants, refugees and asylum seekers to countries that are not their own, under 35 third-country agreements struck since 2025. The US has pledged at least $410m to secure the deals, which human rights lawyers call a "show of force" and a loophole around laws against sending people to countries where they face persecution.
