Indonesia haze sparks 175,000 respiratory cases

Indonesia's health ministry reports about 175,000 respiratory illness cases since August as wildfires blanket the region in toxic smog. More than 40,000 cases involve toddlers, ranging from coughs to pneumonia. Over 54,000 officials are water-bombing Borneo and Sumatra, but dry conditions and peatlands hinder efforts. The haze has reached Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.
