Transplant Immunosuppression Regimens Linked to Sinonasal Disease Risk

A multicentre US study found that transplant immunosuppression regimens are associated with differing rates of sinonasal disease. Basiliximab was linked to higher rates of allergic rhinitis, chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps and acute invasive fungal sinusitis than anti-thymocyte globulin. Tacrolimus-based maintenance was associated with more allergic rhinitis and acute invasive fungal sinusitis than cyclosporine.
