India police detain hundreds as 'Cockroach' protests erupt

Indian security forces detained more than 500 demonstrators in New Delhi on Friday as the Gen Z-led Cockroach Janta Party and opposition groups demanded the resignation of Election Commission chief Gyanesh Kumar over a voter roll controversy. Authorities closed 11 metro stations and imposed restrictions barring gatherings of more than five people. Protests also began in Mumbai, with organizers vowing nationwide expansion.
