Punjab Sees Surge in Cross-Border Smuggling From Pakistan

Punjab recorded a sharp rise in cross-border smuggling from Pakistan in the first nine months of the year, with the BSF seizing 850 kg of heroin — more than double last year's haul — along with 182 drones, 261 weapons and 44 kg of opium. Officials say Amritsar and Tarn Taran remain key infiltration corridors, prompting expanded counter-drone measures and deeper surveillance.
