The flydubai co-pilot accused of attacking Indian pilot Smit Machchhar with a crash axe and attempting to seize control of flight FZ1073 told investigators he wanted to crash the aircraft and was "not afraid of death," according to The Wall Street Journal. The September 30 Dubai-Tel Aviv flight, carrying over 170 people, made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, after passengers and crew overpowered the accused, 29-year-old Omani national Hamam al-Hammami. UAE authorities have called it an attempted terrorist attack.
