The Supreme Court on Monday declined to entertain the Centre's challenge to a Calcutta High Court order upholding PILs against the Great Nicobar Island mega-infrastructure project. The PILs allege violations of the Forest Rights Act and harm to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups. The High Court will hear all pending petitions on November 25 and 26.
