Engineers from Japan and Scotland plan to launch Scotch whisky into orbit in 2028 aboard a SpaceX supply mission to the International Space Station. The "Space Puffin" CubeSat, designed by students, will circle Earth for five years, exposing samples to rapid temperature swings from minus 150C to plus 200C. Researchers believe this could accelerate maturation and produce bold new flavours.
