Ex-German Spy Chief Arrested on Espionage and Treason Charges

August Hanning, former head of Germany's BND, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of espionage and treason. Prosecutors allege he used classified intelligence to draft an analysis for a foreign service and maintained contact with another. A former BND employee, Manfred D, allegedly passed Hanning about 2,000 classified documents for money. Investigators have not named the foreign powers involved.
