TMC's Abhishek Banerjee blasts police after Kalighat clashes

Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee accused police of standing by during overnight clashes near his Kalighat residence in Kolkata, saying officers who cannot protect themselves cannot protect the public. The violence, which he blamed on BJP supporters, lasted until 7 am and injured at least eight people. Mamata Banerjee also condemned the attack.
