Indian-origin Democrat Saba Haider wins Illinois seat

Saba Haider, an Indian-origin Democrat, has been elected to the Illinois General Assembly, saying her victory shows US voters now prioritise everyday concerns such as affordability, healthcare, education and the environment over divisive politics. Haider, 42, who moved from Ghaziabad to the US 20 years ago, described a gruelling campaign and the extra scrutiny women face in politics.
