India's 2027 Census will, for the first time, collect personal details including Aadhaar, mobile numbers, bank accounts, and passports, alongside caste data for all respondents. The 40-question survey, notified by the Registrar General, marks the first caste enumeration since Independence. The exercise, costing Rs 11,718 crore, begins in September in snow-bound areas.
