Apple Pay to enter India via Axis Bank credit cards

Apple plans to launch Apple Pay in India as early as October 2026, starting with Axis Bank credit cards, with talks ongoing with HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank. The service enters a market dominated by UPI, which handled 24.5 billion transactions in August 2026 and 84% of digital payment volumes.
