Solar and wind hit record 80% of Australia's grid demand

Renewables met a record 80.4% of demand on Australia's main power grid on Saturday, with rooftop solar alone supplying more than half the electricity used for 30 minutes around lunchtime. Clear skies and low demand drove the surge, while coal and gas provided 20%. Analysts expect such records to be broken again soon.
