Fourth coal mine cleared near MP tiger corridor

India's environment ministry has approved a fourth underground coal mine near the Bandhavgarh-Achanakmar tiger corridor in Madhya Pradesh since July. The West of Shahdol (South) mine in Umaria district, over 1,400 hectares including 960 hectares of forest, lies just 6 km from the corridor. Conservationists warn of risks to endangered species and habitat connectivity.
