Hurricane Polo, a powerful Pacific storm off Mexico's coast, was downgraded to Category 4 but remains 'very powerful', according to the US National Hurricane Center. The slow-moving hurricane, one of the season's strongest, was projected to bring intense wind and rain toward southwestern Mexico without making landfall. Extremely warm waters from El Niño are fueling the storm.
