A new report from the Climate Impact Lab warns that the current El Niño could lead to 451,000 heat-related deaths in the first half of the event, with global land temperatures 1.2°C above normal. The Global South, including India, Nigeria, and Brazil, is expected to be hardest hit. NOAA says there is a 75% chance this El Niño will be stronger than any since 1950.
