Pennsylvania Grandfather's Backyard Roller Coaster Denied Zoning Permit

Michael Chorba, a 60-year-old grandfather in Mount Pleasant Township, Pennsylvania, built a small roller coaster called The Tidal Wave in his backyard, spending about $24,700. The township denied a zoning permit because the code does not explicitly allow roller coasters, and a variance request failed after a tied vote. Chorba says the coaster is for his grandchildren.
